Welcome Jayne!

For those of you that were able to make it out to see us perform our set at the Marquee Theatre's Local Showcase in Tempe back in June, let us start our very first official blog post by saying thank you so much for coming out and rocking out at our biggest turnout yet! Seriously, let us repeat that again - thank you sooooo much. We had an absolutely amazing time and it was such an honor to share the stage with some of Arizona's finest talent, including  Emerald Isle and The Heartless, to name just a few! If you were there you got to meet our brand new lead guitarist. If you didn't get a chance to see her shred firsthand, then let us be the first to introduce you to and officially welcome Jayne to Discovery of an Afterlife!

Welcome Jayne

Here are a few words she has to share about herself.

My name is Jayne and I’m the new guitarist of DoaA. I’ve been at this whole guitar thing for over a decade and DoaA really is the best band I could ever have hoped to be a part of. I’ve been out of the scene for over a year and this great group of dudes really made me feel welcome and gave me shot. I’ll be trying my hardest bring my own talents where I can to make DoaA as awesome as can be.

As for a little more about me: I’ve lived in Arizona most of my life. I pretty much grew up on hard rock and metal classics like AC/DC, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Megadeth, Ozzy Osbourne, and so many others. When I eventually made it to high school, I saw there was a guitar class so I begged my parents to get me a guitar so I could join. I ended up getting kicked out of my guitar class because I had to switch some other classes around. After figuring out I could learn songs on my own, I kept playing, learning new songs to learn new abilities, and I never stopped. I ended up developing my love of heavy hitting riffs, face melting solos, elegant harmonies, and brutal, unique breakdowns.

Guitar really helped get me through some personal and mental issues through high school and my time at college. It helped me feel like I could at least control my ability to get better at my instrument even when I couldn’t control the world around me. After playing in the Phoenix rock and metal scenes from 2009-2015, my band at the time broke up and I took a break from playing in bands to get myself in better working order.

Now I’m here, ready to shred and help DoaA take the local scene, and the whole world, by storm!

Jayne is an incredibly talented individual and we are so thrilled to have found her. We are really looking forward to playing more shows and writing new music in this next chapter of our band, so stay tuned for more awesome DoaA goodness coming your way soon!
