On Saturday night we had the pleasure of playing with some absolutely amazing bands over at Joe's Grotto in Nothern Phoenix for Audible Assault Entertainment's Official 1 Year Anniversary Show. There was cake, pizza, Chi-Town Dogz, vape life with Vape Gravy and Mt Baker Vapor, and amazing music at an amazing venue. This was an especially special show for me because my mom and younger brother came all the way from Reno, NV just to see Discovery of an Afterlife for the first time! Furthermore, Leon's parents decided to spend their ANNIVERSARY rocking out with us at this show which made it approximately 1283947329847 times better.
A HUGE congratulations to Audible Assault Entertainment on turning a year old and a very special thank you to Steph over there for thinking of us when putting together the lineup for this fantastic occasion! We really appreciate that whether you're a small local band at your first show or a national headlining act she will treat you with the same amount of respect and make sure you are well-taken care of. We obviously don't do this for the money but it is nice to know that when working with Steph you won't have to worry about hunting someone down at the end of the night to get paid!
Thank you to all of the incredibly talented bands that showed up to celebrate and rock out all night. Be sure to show some love and check out their music by clicking on each artist's name below!
For those not familiar with the venue, Joe's Grotto has an awesome little front area with convenient bar access for when you need a little fresh air in between sets. This is where smokers often congregate for obvious reasons so, of course, the good folks from Vape Gravy and Mt Baker Vapor were hanging out converting smokers to vaping and hooking it up with sweet deals on delicious vape juice flavors.
For everybody that didn't make it there in time to get in on the pizza and cake action there was Chi-Town Dogz offering unique and delicious hot dog creations for sale out in front of the venue. I was sporting my fabulous Ron Burgundy inspired outfit so opted just to get a boring old regular hot dog (which was delicious) but Conner got the 'Fire Chi PIzza Dog' and said it tastes just like a pizza! Stewart, the owner, offers catering via his Chicago style food truck (or Chicago style FJ cruiser in his case) and is planning on opening a physical location in Phoenix very soon so for our foodie fans be sure to check him out on Facebook and Instagram to see the full menu and maybe drop by and try one if you're in the area. Tell him Discovery of an Afterlife sent you!
A huge thank you to Joe and to the staff of Joe's Grotto. When I first moved to Phoenix this was the first venue I ever went to a show at and I immediately fell in love with the aquatic theme and decor. We absolutely love playing here and can't wait for our next chance to come back again. Thank you to Soundphoria for promoting the show and the Phoenix local music scene in general! And of course thank you thank you thank you to everyone who bought a ticket and came out to support us and to all you beautiful people who bought something from or even just stopped by our merch booth. We're always really amazed at the turnout for our shows and they seem to just keep getting bigger and bigger, and for that we are deeply and forever appreciative.
Stay tuned for more great shows and brand new music from Discovery of an Afterlife in 2018!
