Greetings Afterlife Army,

Here is the latest edition of the 'Afterlife Army' newsletter and there are lots of things to talk about this month.

It's officially spooky time, one of our favorite parts of the year, as October has officially arrived. In this edition I'll talk about how much fun we had at Soundphoria 3, give you some more exclusive pics from our video shoot for 'Lapis Lazuli,' wish our drummer Josh a very Happy Birthday, and tell you about our latest live acoustic video for 'Global Mourning.'

Thanks for Joining Us at Soundphoria 3

The opening image for this edition of the newsletter was taken at Soundphoria 3 and for those of you who were able to make it out and stayed all the way to the end just to see us play we say thank you thank you thank you so very very much.

All the bands were amazing and we had an absolute blast performing alongside such awesome talent. It's always a great time catching Crowning Thieves playing and I was personally super stoked to finally play a show with Silence the Voice.

Huge shoutout to Gavin of Soundphoria for inviting us to play and for everything he does for the Phoenix Arizona local music scene. This was the last show of the year for us and it was a great one to end on for sure.

More Behind the Scenes Shots from ‘Lapis Lazuli’ Video Shoot

Unfortunately we don't have any new updates on the music video yet. A 4-6 week turnaround time on the video puts us at the end of this month so hopefully we will have more news for you very, very soon. In the meantime here are a few more shots from the shoot.

From the looks of these pictures it definitely looks like some creepy stuff is going on in our new music video. Enjoy this creepy red imagery just in time for the Halloween season!

Happy (Early) Birthday Josh!

For those of you who don't know our very own drummer Josh has a birthday this month. He was born on October 30th, right before Halloween, which is his favorite holiday, and as a huge horror nerd he was definitely born at the right time.

Josh is such an integral and important piece of what makes this band what it is. He does whatever is needed of him to make things work and we are all extremely appreciative of the hard work and sacrifice he puts into Discovery of an Afterlife.

Fun fact, Josh is the one who records, mixes, and produces all of our music. The only thing he doesn't do is master the tracks, and that's not for a lack of trying. He is also the artist behind the cover art for both 'Something More Than Us' and 'Mistakes We Make.'

I could go on and on about the many amazing things he does for this band but just know without him we wouldn't be anywhere near where where we are today.

So if you're a fan of this band (which hopefully you are if you're reading this newsletter) be sure to head over to his instagram page on the 30th to wish this incredibly talented guy a happy birthday and a happy Halloween! He will definitely appreciate the love.

Happy Birthday to Josh and his awesome drumset. Love this guy so much!

Climate Change is Not a Hoax!

Hopefully this isn't news to you but our planet is currently facing a terrible crisis in the form of climate change brought on by the actions of humans. It is absolutely ludicrous that scientific data and facts have become a political stance, but here we are.

The truth is if we don't act soon we are going to be facing mass extinction. Just looking here at Phoenix, AZ we see that the record for hottest temperature recorded is pushed higher and higher every summer. Eventually, humans will be physically incapable of living here any longer if this trend continues.

On our debut album 'Something More Than Us' this issue was the inspiration for our song 'Global Mourning' which is about the death of planet Earth. Recently Leon and I recorded a live acoustic version of this song and asked for donations to the Alliance for Climate Change Education.

If you haven't seen our performance yet, check it out on youtube and please think about donating to this great organization. I still have hope that we can turn this thing around and literally save the world, but things are not looking good right now.

Sorry to end on a grim note, but in the spirit of the Halloween season think of it as a real life horror movie that we're all a part of.

As usual I will end on a question for you. This one is simple and fun, don't worry. What are you thinking of going as for Halloween this year?

I know it might be early for some of you but hopefully this question gets you thinking about costume ideas at the very least. Be sure to comment below with your answer and I look forward to hearing from you!

Much Love From AZ,
-Jon

Greetings Afterlife Army,

We hope that you're having a fun and safe Labor Day weekend! I'll keep this installment of the 'Afterlife Army' newsletter short and to the point so you can get back to enjoying your time off from work or school. ;)

This month I've got some behind-the-scenes shots from our upcoming music video, one last promotion for Soundphoria 3, and an announcement about future shows.

‘Lapis Lazuli’ Music Video

We're so happy to announce to you that our upcoming music video will be for our song 'Lapis Lazuli' and has been successfully recorded.

It was an intense three days but we had a blast making our very first video. We're very confident in our choice to go with Jacob Eldridge as our director and believe our vision for the video is in very good hands with him.

Jacob has told us that the turnaround time on the video is usually 4-6 weeks but could potentially take longer. Members of the Afterlife Army will be the first to know once it's done and we'll make sure to get them all the details on the video's premiere.

In the meantime here are a few still shots from the video shoot. Hope you enjoy this exclusive sneak peek!

Soundphoria 3 Is Just Around the Corner!

Soundphoria 3, presented by Bad Boy Guitars, is almost here! If you haven't already you can still reach out to us to get your $10.00 presale tickets, otherwise they will be sold for $12.00 at the door.

Since shooting the video for 'Lapis Lazuli' we've been hard at work putting a killer setlist together for you so we hope to see you there.

This awesome show is going to take place on Saturday September 14th at Joe's Grotto in Northern Phoenix. This is a 21+ show and doors open at 7pm. Once again, be sure to RSVP to the official facebook event page to let us know you're coming.

Regarding Future Shows

As you can imagine, coordinating the schedules of five different band members comes with its own unique set of challenges. We each have our own lives and obligations on top of our responsibilities in the band which can make scheduling practices and concerts kind of tough sometimes.

Somehow we find a way to make it work though because we each love being in this amazing band and part of this community.

Unfortunately due to these scheduling conflicts, however, Soundphoria 3 will most likely be our last show for the foreseeable future. At least until the end of 2019.

Considering we were able to perform in five different shows this year, including our first LGBT event, we're very happy with what we've accomplished and look forward to hitting the stage once more in 2020.

Those are all the updates I have for you this time, but as usual I want to leave you with a question. What are you doing with this long Labor Day weekend?

Personally I'm staying home and catching up on sleep but I'm always interested in what other people like to do with an extra long weekend.

So are you making a special trip somewhere or just being lazy like me? Leave a comment below with your answer and I look forward to reading it. :)

Much Love From AZ,
-Jon
